I’ve had a satisfying career as a mental health counselor, specializing in trauma. I love watching people overcome their challenges and grow. It was also draining at times to walk with them through those times. Before becoming a mental health counselor I earned a BFA from the U of South Florida in Tampa FL (honors painting).
What helping people grow and making art have in common is one must be creative in both activities. People are very individual and how one grows is not how another grows, and creativity is essential. Making art is another type of creativity.
God, the Great Creator, blessed us with imaginations in His image. I want my art to give Glory to God and find that frustrating as I can’t create anything comparable to what He creates. However we have gifts from God and are encouraged to use them. Thank God for art and the nature that inspires us.
I find inspiration in the glorious universe of nebulae and
galaxies, as well as in nature, particularly flowers for the colors. Lately I’ve
been experimenting with abstract art. Abstracted from something else, not just
pretty designs (although I enjoy those too). I’m thinking of the influences and
forces that reshape us and change our lives.
I create with digital pigment in pixels and light, using a Wacom
tablet and stylus that replaces a palette and brush. I find working digitally I can create
the colors and light with a luminous result that delight my eyes, and hope they appeal to you too. I
use software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and Corel Painter. The paintings can be printed on several media. Fine art watercolor paper gives more of a look of watercolor. Canvas wrap lends itself to more of an acrylic or oil on canvas look. Prints on metal are stunning and popular. If you have questions, send me an email.
